I'm 110% certain that Mochy passed this rewhip based on perceived skill differential. As mentioned here & elsewhere, Lecomte was said to be playing at least a 10 before this match so for him to have a 7.6 showing was pretty good.

This position is a lot more gammonish than the opening position so I don't think By that logic, the opening position is a close take on an 8-cube? is a fair statement. If you're a member of GV you can see the 4 cube/entire match as it's online now.

I toss off 4 points to some chucker in a 23 point match it's no big deal, but if I lose 16 points which happens nearly 1/4th of the time in a position that isn't hard to play out for the gammon when it happens I'll be kicking myself for years to come. Can't blame him for the decision.
