Someone tell me again why not even it out by allowing one to roll both dice on either side.

Or, just allow any dice roll that lies flat on any side to count... even if one is on one side and one on the other.

One could argue that it's potentially confusing for the spectators... if you require rolling on the right, then the location of the dice tells you whose move it is. Of course, the plungers on the clock can tell you whose move it is.
