øystein johansen(one of the men behind gnu) answered a few questions regarding lar in our norwegian forum-ill try to translate:

is lar a better estimate than the usual numbers u get from gnu(snowienumbers/mwc and so on...) -in a single match, no.

how many matches do u have to play to get a reliable lar-result? -after many matches, u can calculate the standard deviation of the lar. then u can conclude something like this: "its x% sure that player a plays better than player b." remember that lar depends on your opponent."

ive played a lot of dmp's against a friend of mine. can lar be used to analyze this session? -this is the perferct example. the players and matchlength are 'constant'. then u can estimate the lar-average and standard deviation.

im pretty sure its easier AND better just to use the snowienumbers, in combo with the mwc given away. biased, yes...but pretty accurate imho.
