I guess it's safe to say that ANYBODY can have a bad day. What's more interesting is what constitutes a bad day and how bad is bad.

I like to pride myself on my consistency. However, sometimes I play a match where I'm shocked about my ER. It just happened last night where I played a 6,5 in a long 17 pointer. Needles to say that I made tons of big errors in order to not break 6. I really thought I was past anything above a 4,5 (and that's playing it safe) but sometimes you just screw up.

People tend to mention their top-level when discussing ERs.

I prefer to know their true average, their top level and their 90%-percentile.

The latter is because anybody can have a real bad day where the stat is not really representative of the level one can expect from them.
