It was the funniest thing during the hand, I didn't understand why I didn't bet the turn either. I saw no good coming from it is the short version. I figured he's obviously chasing two overcards when he calls me on that flop so if he has an ace he might very well have a better kicker than I do, in which case I'll be glad I can check & then call the river.

What I think I was really hoping for was a river bluff by him, because I didn't put him on an ace ... I was trying to extract one more bet since once that ace comes with that board, there's no hand that I'm worried about. If he was playing two overs without an ace I have him nutted no matter what comes. He can't be on a pocket pair, he'd have raised me on that flop. So giving him the free card gives him a chance to bluff me on the river. Here it ended up saving me a bet (or two) since he certainly would have chased the flush.
