The guy you talk about, Jason, is Jacob Garal....I respect his innovation and his desire to make the game more fun and interesting. I totally agree with his concept of shorter matches, for example, as they tend to be more exciting and it is at 5-away/5-away and under that you have the most checker and cube plays that change according to score.

I respect innovation... shorter matches are good... but the bulk of his concepts are downright insane. He wrote a book about it all, and I thumbed through it once, and he's obviously in love with his new system, so much so that he's blind to the shortcomings... when he writes that there are no shortcomings. Note that I called his IDEAS crackpot, not him.
