In addition to the points MCG raised, make sure you have "rollout as initial position" selected so that you don't roll doubles on the first roll. I haven't found anything better than a rollout of a checker play which results in the opening position after the move. Two rollouts are required for each score: one for the leader winning the opening roll and one for the trailer winning the opening roll.

I strongly recommend saving your files rather than working with the "hint" feature.
