Why do bots have an even/odd effect?

I don't understand why all of the training positions aren't entered in both positive and negative forms.

I can think of two problems with this:

(1) It would create artificial positions. You might be training the NN for positions that never happen or rarely happen in real play.

(2) The equity of a position depends on who is on roll. You can't just use the reversed position with the same (reversed) equity; you have to calculate a new equity.

You could train a NN so that the 0-ply equities mimicked the 1-ply equities. But the makers of Gnu decided to make the 0-ply equities mimic the 2-ply equities.
