Frank "AFAIK XG Roller uses a short rollout for evaluation, therefore I guess it doesn't make much sense as a setting for rollouts..."
Neil.. AFAIR XG roller is trucated at 6ply with 2 ply used for the first 2 steps and 1 ply used for the remaining 4 steps.
Neil.. (and I may be quoted here) "I disagree with you quite strongly here and think that using something like XG roller to make plays and cube decisions in rollouts is the way forward for bots. XG roller is stronger than 3 ply and Xavier has told me that it is somewhat stronger than 4 ply, and yet it is faster than 4 ply. Even on my archaic single core home computer (2.4 Ghz) XG roller is very quick. Extreme Gammon is supposed to support multiple cores, so one can imagine that decisions with XG roller would be blazingly fast, but even on my archaic computer I don't think a 1296 game rollout using XG roller would take prohibitively long"
