Is it always correct to split your backcheckers with 4-1 5-1 3-2, afteryour opponent made a point with something like 4-2 & 5-3.
No, there are circumstances where splitting is incorrect (especially after 64).
I believe for money you should always split if you can if opp opens with 31. This is not necessarily the case at other scores.
Is so I would appreciate some comments why it is like that. In my intermediate brain it feels more logic to try EVERYTHING you can to make your own points......Confused.....
Often in this case you are basically playing the same game as your opponent, priming or making a board, except you have the worst of it. This form of "catch up" usually doesn't work and is often painful when it doesn't.
