Premature roll ruling

First, as A I would probably not have required a ruling at all. OK, B did err, but he obviously saw the error of his ways and corrected it in the best way available. Indeed, if he hadn't picked them up while bouncing, I would have tried to - this is the Kit Woolsey remedy, and I've tried it on several occasions, and it usually works like a charm.
If called to the table as the TD I would just have warned B against fast rolling, and explained that under the rules A is entitled to either let the premature roll stand or require a reroll. I think forcing B to roll a premature roll is against the spirit of the game, and gives the completely wrong signal that premature rolls are somehow part of the game as opposed to something to be avoided.
I would however enforce - both as player A and as a TD if called - that B has stated his intention to roll and has forfeited his right to double on this turn.
