But there IS new news each day. The fact that nobody committed suicide during the first 10 days is new data each day.

If only one person had blue eyes, he'd know that he MUST have blue eyes and he would commit suicide the next morning.

If two people had blue eyes, both would realize that because nobody committed suicide after day one, then each of them they MUST have blue eyes (they can only see one other person with blue eyes and that one person did NOT commit suicide after day one), thus they both commit suicide after day two.

If three people had blue eyes, all three would realize that because nobody committed suicide after day one and two, then they MUST have blue eyes (the can only see two other people with blue eyes and neither of them committed suicide after day two), thus all three commit suicide after day three.

Etc.
