It's not about "better" or "worse", it's about who can adjust their game to the specific situation better. If a "good" player handles the cube exactly as s/he would if there was consulting then he or she will win more. If a bad player is able to adjust then he or she will lose less.
You could argue that the "good" player should be more able able to adapt his or her game to the specific situation.
