Stick, you are thinking like a backgammon money playing online outsider. Because you are mostly a backgammon money playing online outsider. Of course, you are an outstanding player. But your bg play is mostly live play or against Snowie. You once explained that money bg is really not your thing. Poker money online serves you well. Thus, you do not truly understand that there are no better alternatives to P65
I have played online bg for money on GE & PartyGammon. I only played on PartyGammon because it's where I played poker at the time. My brief stint @ backgammon was well rewarded and honestly a very easy time w/the interface, no worries of cheats, and cashing out was never a problem [granted, I was a high stakes poker player for a couple of years on there so I'd doubt they'd ever hold my account under suspicion for withdrawing money]
On GammonEmpire I played very briefly. I deposited I forget how much, $500 maybe? I played for less than a week and was thoroughly annoyed. I still won money, it had nothing to do with that. I didn't feel the play was as fair in general. On top of that when I tried to withdraw my money GE said "Not so fast." It didn't take all the bangs & whistles that it did with Erik for me to get my money. I was a little more forceful in demanding my money I believe and told them up front more or less they could go fuck themselves. I knew my error rate wasn't anything genius like on their server, I let them know I ran this web site and what other sites I was affiliated with. I told them they could review any/all of my games and I expected my money promptly afterwards. I got my money ... and that's that.
As a player I wouldn't play anywhere, poker, backgammon, anything, where they could take my money (and were KNOWN to do so) without explanation, without probable cause, without explanation. If I'd have had 12K on a site and they tried to withhold it like they did with Erik and blew me off ... well ... I'd have no problem buying a plane ticket and a handy stock of toothpicks to stick in as many people's eyes as I needed to.
When I said "You once explained that money bg is really not your thing" I hope that's taken the right way. I love playing bg for money, it's that the stakes people play for in general are a joke compared to what I make/lose playing poker. I have to play bg for the love of the game, not the fistfuls of cash that will be coming my way. I may also have been comparing my match play to money play and my money play is [hopefully] significantly better.
I also know TMG is dead as shit. I play w/friends on there for no stakes sometimes. I also have a lot of bg ppl who talk to me about these sites even though I have nothing to do with any of them. I read everywhere on the net anything about bg that's written so I'm as in the loop as I can get and the bullshit that I've heard from P65/GE makes me want to projectile. BGM went back on their contract, their word, they can fall off the face of the planet as far as I'm concerned. P65/GE is even worse. Thieves when they feel like it w/out having to explain themselves to anyone. I realize it may be the 'best of the worse' but I'd go without poker before I'd lower myself to playing on a site I know can seize my funds at any time w/out explanation and I'm fucked.
Hopefully ... one day, you'll have a better choice of bg server ;) I'll keep you updated.
I hope you catch the poker bug, it really can be a great game.
