I think you missed my point. As long every bot makes errors in the magnitude they do (especially gnubg which is overall excellent, but is far off the mark at very unusual positions) I don't see how one of them could be claimed to be the "Standard" except X is the best for y-position-type.

If the situation would be similar to chess where currently one bot is clearly better than the rest of the competition: maybe, but we don't have this situation. But the field might get more dynamic through XG increasing the evolutionary pressure ;)
