I never met Walter but between "Backgammon Boot Camp" and his articles on Gammon Village he created a large body of wonderful material that I expect to study and re-study many times.

Walter mentioned in "Boot Camp" that he used to be primarily a chess player before he found backgammon. In fact, I first ran into Walter's name in "Chess Horizons", the magazine of the Massachusetts Chess Association, about 35 years ago. I have at least one of his chess games in an old copy of the magazine; if there are any interested chess players on this board I could post it here.
