What you saw was just the "concept." The actual product would be smaller, made of a heavier plastic, and contain pegs for the dice to bounce on. You turn the tube over like an egg timer and the dice trickle down making a quiet, gentle, musical tone as they hit the pegs, softly landing at the bottom to deliver a most delightful roll that is never cocked and never touched by human hands.
The dice are sealed in the tube and given to the players randomly by the director, so there is no opportunity for someone putting in a loaded die that has some tendency to roll a given number.
The tube, itself, will have a sensual feeling to it which promotes maximum tactile pleasure for all, and that should greatly increase tournament participation in and of itself.
This is something I could easily produce in China for a very small cost...Perry and I were going to do this a few years ago, but we found that most tournament players were so much against change and anything new that they would not use this tool, even though it is far superior than the current method of rolling in terms of sound, speed, fairness, assurance that there is no cheating, and for the tactile and sound pleasantness I described.
In time, when more people see the beauty of the idea, we will produce it. In the meantime, I hope you will use some imagination not to throw out the idea simply because the racquetball can used to illustrate the point was too loud.
