I will leave the technical answer to you question to those who know far more than I about this subject. I stop at 95% only because that's good enough for my purposes. On really close positions, I have found that you can keep going forever and all you will ever know for sure that it is close. And if it's not that close, at 95% I am happy that I have the right answer.

If I were publishing my solution in a book, and it was something I would absolutely hang my hat on, I would certainly go to the 99% level if possible.

Extremegammon is capable of taking rollouts to any level GNU can, it's just that I don't choose to do so in the interest of time and expediency.
