At first I thought 2/1*. But then, what is the point of hitting White when we are trapped behind a full prime and it doesn't create root numbers?
I play the simple 6/2 which gives White his full roll to play and adds fives and fours to our killed numbers. I see some value in keeping spares on both of our backgame points and we already have two spares on our foremost backgame point so I don't see a compelling reason for 24/23.
Should Blue abandon the backgame altogether? That's often right when the timing for the backgame is gone. Here, however the timing for the deuce point game is also gone and I hope to get more hits out of a backgame.
