Another data point for your skeptical mind, Mr. Bower:

Number of players I counted sitting at a real money/match or SNG or tournament or school table: 289 = 2.2% of 13,361.
--- Money/match 217
--- School 5
--- SNG 43
--- Tournament 24
Number of players I counted sitting at a play money table: 9113
--- in Rooms 1-45: 3898. Every single room was filled to the capacity of 50 tables.
--- in Rooms 46-100: These rooms were also all completely full. I did not count waiters/players separately. At the 86% game-in-progress rate of Rooms 1-45, figure 4730 payers.
--- in Rooms 101-105: only 337 players total
--- in Rooms 106-150: only 148 players total
--- Number of players in play money SNGs: about 864 + 550 = 1414
Recap: The banner claimed "13,361 players on 3630 tables," but I actually counted (or estimated) 289 playing for money and 10,527 playing for free, which totals 10,816.
Manual counting took a long time. No doubt games ended/started in the various rooms while I was counting. On the other hand, by the time I was done, the banner said "14,388 players on 3984 tables." If the banner claim(s) were correct, I would seem to have missed counting, somehow, between 2545 and 3572 active players.
And btw:
1. How many players sitting at tables were counted twice or more because they multi-table?
2. How many of the players conveniently filling most of the play money rooms to capacity were house bots?
