From a psychological point of view, I believe there's something to be said for the double hit. If the blitz succeeds, even partially, the chances are good that an inexperienced player will become either steamed or demoralized. And even if the blitz doesn't succeed, the resulting position has a good chance of being considerably more complicated than after the quiet 9/5 6/5. This could easily outweigh the few "perfect" plays while the player is on the bar.
