I can reproduce your results with pruning off. It is rather curious that the filter doesn't seem to have the same effect when pruning is on and off. I also seem to get varying output when using the "eval" button and the 0/1/2/3/4 buttons on the hint dialog.

When posting to the mailing list I'd also say which filter you are using as well/
