Not so friendly reminder for TDs next year

While I agree totally with the use of clocks, this is only one of several issues raised by players. Some people believe they have the right to have matches taped or recorded. Some believe they have the right to require a baffle box or roller. Some believe the finals should always be pod-cast or at least projected on to a big screen. And of course, there are people against all of these.
The question is who should decide these things, how should they be decided, and what we should do about what happens when things are not the way we would like them.
Of course, everyone is free to decide for themselves what tournament they will attend and why or why not, but is it really appropriate that individuals draw a line in the sand about what they feel is right in order to get what they want?
Right now, it is, because that's the only method we have if we cannot get a tournament director to agree with what we each think is important. Just as Stick (and many others) believe clocks are important for the game and should be used, I, and others, think the same way about baffle boxes and rollers, particularly if we have suspicions about our opponent's character or his methods of shaking (or not shaking) and rolling the die.
But there is a better, nicer, more appropriate way. We, the players, should have an association of players, if not a formal one, at least a group...possibly the BG Online Players Association, and together we should decide if something truly is important and good for the game, and together we should discuss, vote, and as a group express our desires to the tournament directors. This makes it easier for the tournament directors to say "yes" as they can explain to any dissenters that it is what the players want. Also, it comes as a request, not a demand or a threat.
Now, if a tournament director rejects the request, and the players collectively do not believe their is a sound reason for the rejection, then we truly have some power, as a group, to decide whether the issue is worth:
a) boycotting the event b) stating that we disagree, but we recommend players do what they wish personally, or c) agreeing that the tournament director, in this case, has a reasonable point and that while we disagree, we do not advocate boycotting the event.
So in lieu of all of us independently making threats and demands, and also the implied threat that others will join us (if Stick refuses to go to an event, many of us will support him and do the same if we believe in Stick's demands...several of us agreed to support Ed O'Laughlin's demand for the right to use a baffle box if requested and available), I recommend the following:
1. Let's take a vote on issues here, and let's agree to all support the overall vote of the players; 2. Let's give our results to tournament directors as a request, and not a demand, and get their response before taking action; 3. Once we have a response, if it is not to our liking, let's leave it to everyone to decide for themselves whether or not the issue is strong enough for them to skip the event.
I for one, happen to completely agree with Stick about clocks, and Malcolm about the right to tape, and Ed about the right to request a baffle box or approved roller if available, and I am sure many of you will agree with me that we should not have to play on green chairs, but let's really support each other and do this together.
