I think when you have the time and desire to sit down and play a serious match of any length, generally you will have a computer available to you....even on the airplane and long trips. I see using the iPhone to play pretty much when I am in the car, driving, and I just can't get the laptop on my lap between me and the steering wheel, but I can easily hold the iPhone in front of me so I can still watch for pedestrians and other cars with my peripheral vision.

I think it's too dangerous to have the laptop in front of me when I'm driving, so I usually keep it open on the seat next to me. I also find that when there are others in the car with me and I play on the computer when I am driving, their yelling can get distracting and it hurts my ER.
