Baffle Boxes in Madison

1) I heard about baffle boxes that are not really random. How is someone to be convinced it is a legitmate setup? If cups are also used this is mitigiated but not eliminated.
I regularly play with cups through a baffle box as it is standard in L.A. There is no concern about manipulation under these conditions. Even the Persian club here, where almost all players learned to play using their hands, uses cups through a box because it makes everyone comfortable. Almost everyone, at both clubs here, likes and prefers this set-up.
2) Does it take longer roll?
It is actually faster. The dice do not need to be shaken as much and there are very few cocked rolls, rolls on checkers, or rolls off the board.
What Phil says about the short amount of time it takes to adjust and to become comfortable and that most will actually come to prefer it is true.
