Baffle Boxes in Madison

The baffle boxes, while not fixed to either side, are kept on one side. In practice, they are never moved at our club. You find that you have no preference which side it is on.
One important point that has not been mentioned is that baffle boxes are more fair for clocked matches. Why? Because during a clocked match one side must roll on the side of the bear-off and has a greater chance to have cocked rolls and to waste time re-rolling. With baffle boxes you always put the box on the outfield side of the board so that the dice do not come to rest on the checkers during the bear-off.
Another point is that for televised matches the dice are easier to read, since they are rolled on the same side of the board.
