Madison Playoff Brackets

When you see how well the brackets worked out (only issue was needing to play five 6-2's down to two spots I think you'll agree with the decision to go playoffs after 8 rds.

Having Tak at 7-2 equal to me at 7-1 is a bit of an issue, but this is what happens in playoffs. Mary is also 7-2 and playing Scott at 7-1 although had Al beaten Mary he'd be 8-2 which I don't think is unfair to be playing a 7-1.

Had they run a 9th round there'd have been one 8-1 into finals and either 4 or 5 7-2's. Four 7-2's is ideal, but five 7-2's would've sucked. It is also very unlikely that the conso would have worked out perfectly fairly as it did, had the Swiss been continued.

Of course I want 100% Swiss elim and no conso, but that is not this T's format yet. However, I am rather sure it will be Pittsburgh's format next year!

Anyhow, I fully believe that the staff did the right thing here. There have been some mistake made in playoff decisions in this event-type over the years, but not this year!
