Excellent question. Since we try to avoid repeat pairings, it is very difficult to predict two rounds out. The two 7-1 players had not played each other, so they would have been paired in Rnd 9. We couldn't predict if the one remaining 8-1 player could be matched up against a 7-2, or whether we would be forced to pair him up against a 6-3. We weren't sure how many of the 7-2's would have to play against 6-3's either. That makes the number of possible scenarios too large to manage in the 1/2 hour we had to decide.

Also, given that we wanted to pay to five or six places, we couldn't run another round of Swiss if it was possible to end up with fewer that 3 players at two losses or better. Yes, all of this difficulty goes away if we play more rounds of Swiss and eliminate the consolation bracket. (Please note that it works out to the same chances at cash for the 3 loss players.)
