I think Blue's supposed to hit. He's behind in the race, and he holds the cube, so I think he needs to swing away and put the pressure to perform on White. The non-hitting plays aren't so safe in the long term anyway, so why not take the initiative? I'd play b/23 18/16* 6/4(2). The safer (though less flexible) b/23 18/16*(2) 8/6 might be better, but I'd have trouble passing up the 4pt here. Also interesting is the odd looking b/23 18/16*(2) 6/4. It's safer than my play, but it only slots the 4pt instead of making it. I'll be curious to see how it does in the rollout.
