With a lack of landing spots in the outfield, it seems like a great way to get those checkers home is while blue is on the bar. Add to that the large gammon payoff. Blue having no board (yet) and another blot and it seems the risk of the hit is rather low. I think this is a situation that in spite of score calls for going for the knockout rather than hoping to drag it out for the decision. Since it is unlikely we will get home without leaving a shot in the outfield, and since blue's board rates to be better by then, I pay now.
