Pittsburgh Swiss Format

I did not hear of that format, did Rob write about it somewhere?

If one wants to speed things up a bit but avoid any angle shooting the players could be drawn in groups of 8, and then in the first three rounds a player would only play someone in that group of 8. Each group of 8 drawsheet could be made in advance. After round 3 then things proceed more like a full Swiss. The advantages here are easier communication of who plays whom, less staff work to wory about during the first three rounds, and if one pairing is going slow it only slows the group of 8 and not the tournament.
