I had the same worry as you that the "thematic choice" would go down because of a split over the 2. That was before I read the posts and realized that it's 8/3, 12/10 in a landslide.

However, there is a big advantage to this BB...if necessary, we can vote, "8/3, and whatever 2 the majority of the 8/3 voters want". I was ready to do that today, if the votes were splitting up. But they're not, so I'm not. I vote 8/3, 12/10, just like Chuck and also everybody else.

At Kit's BB, I used to wait to vote on questions like that till a lot of people posted, then go with whatever the majority wanted on the throw-away even if I disagreed. That's not quite as good an option, because there could be a silent majority going with the other play, and my vote could still result in a plurality for some non-thematic choice.

I'll be away till May 17. You can count my vote as going with Neil, unless Chuck comes up with some "crazy-wack" play that nobody else likes. In that case I'll go along with him so he won't have be out there all alone in the cold >>
