Swiss format strategy

I saw NO FLAWS in the Swiss format in Madison. Random draw the first round, then match up people with like records (randomly again), and then, depending on the records and numbers of players with each records, determine the best, fairest format for the semis and finals with appropriate reward for the people with the best records.
There can be lots of argument about how the final seeding and playoffs are done, and it would be far better to have all this pre-set depending on the number of players with each number of wins, but I can see how that may not always be possible.
One thing I believe to be true, however: MOST players prefer the Swiss or modified Swiss to single elimination or even double-elimination. It really is great to know you will get in a set number of matches; that you will not be knocked out because of one or two unlucky losses; that you know exactly when your matches will be played; and that nobody will be able to look at a drawsheet and see that someone got an easier ride to the finals because he was on the easier side of the sheet.
