Always assess the take first in any doubling situation. Though that assessment may be exceedingly brief.

Whether or not the take is obvious, you must first understand the takepoint and where the game most likely falls relative to it. Then you can consider the volatility of the situation. Just because you have 36 great rolls does not mean you have a double. You must be somewhere near the takepoint to start with. And you cannot sit there thinking about market losers if the market has already been lost.
