Great win! Congratulations. When you look at your recorded matches you might see that you did not play as well as Steve Sax or maybe someone else. And that leads people to conclude that the winner was just lucky. I don't completely buy that.
First, EVERYONE who ever won a match, no matter how well they played, got lucky. I guarantee you that even if they lost in the luck factor department, they had some key, good rolls, or their opponent had some key bad ones.
Second, even if you didn't play as well in total, in order to win you probably made some key decisions very well and particularly at the end of the game and on the important cube decisions, you probably took reasonable chances….even if they were technically wrong if playing a computer, they might have been only slightly wrong, or even correct, when playing a human.
Third, if you are going to beat Steve Sax or another great player, maybe it's not so smart to simply try to make the "book play" all the time? Maybe you should gamble here and there with a slot, with a gambling cube, or a tough take that could turn around quickly?
So DON'T diminish your victory in any way because of the bots. Enjoy the win…you deserved it. It was your turn. And I am sure it was at least partially because you've put a lot of time and work into your game.
You have lost plenty of matches to people who you outplayed....so don't feel guilty or diminished when the reverse happens.
By the way, if it turns out you did outplay all of your opponents in all of your matches, then you just have one more big reason to celebrate. (I've won plenty of matches and tournaments and have rarely been able to have that additional reason myself!)
