ND/T. I think this is a position where the volatility is much more useful for your opponent than it is for you - holding the cube at least. GNU has taught me to seek high volatility situations, and you certainly have one. But the sequences where you fail to enter, and white does enter will certainly hurt.
The other major factor that I see is that even if you do win out in this present situation, its quite easy for opp to reship the cube on any future gammon saving direct shot (or some other positional parlay where white has a shot at salvation) - in order to nullify your gammon wins. The volatility will be your friend at most scores, but this one where your opponent can quickly flip back to 4 in a still volatile position will hurt you. I think.
Now, I am off to read John O H's comments.
