Who are the best at other things?

Chuck was correct, out of receiver range and out claiming as much as I can.

Are we subjecting this list to active backgammon players as we do the Giants list? If so the list changes dramatically. List subject to change upon *active status* requirement for ppl like Gus and maybe Nack.

  • Go - Nack Ballard
  • Scrabble - Nack Ballard
  • Color Lines - Nack Ballard w/Kit a close(?) 2nd [that's right, I said color lines]
  • Bridge - Kit Woolsey
  • Poker - Gus Hansen is not a definite, but we'll go with him for as close to active as we could get for a bg player anyway
  • Chess - should be easy for one of the 'former' chess players to inform us who achieved the highest rating
  • Tennis - only from what I've heard and briefly saw of Gus, I wouldn't imagine Corbett to have been on the same page as him. I could be gravely wrong though. Also now, given the age difference, Gus would certainly win.
  • Othello - David Rockwell
  • Badminton - Iancho Hristov (and yes, sorry Chuck, likely speedminton too)
  • Blackjack - Here it's really tough to tell. I know Kit & Neil have both talked with me and they used to count but how far their knowledge goes I have no idea. I doubt anyone actively does this, not even I do, but it makes for a fun study/practice/something to master. Didn't (Andy) Block play backgammon once upon a time? He was part of the MIT team, he must know a thing or two lol.
  • Hearts - uh...me, there's no question. I would have a go at anyone in many card games like spades, euchre, rook, or anything else you give me a month to play and there's enough money, or maybe even pride, in it.
  • Ping Pong - I'd love to see this competition happen. UBK told me he plays and I loved the game though haven't played in an eternity.
  • Ultimate Frisbee - going to assume it's UBK unless someone else speaks up.
  • Racquetball - We'll take Phil's word for whoever he thinks and let the others argue with him if they don't agree.
  • Squash!?
  • Drinking - Now we have a competition, list your entrants! The last drinking contest I was to participate in we actually made rules to keep of how much is drank (like comparing beer to hard alcohol, or 40 proof to 80 proof, etc...), of how you lose (passing out, vomiting, etc...) and a time frame. Entry fee - $1,000. The only thing that's hard to account for that should be is weight classes but the people involved really didn't care lol.
  • Biggest Donkey - the votes are in, no recount needed, MCG
  • Postwhore - I think I got it?

There are many many many other games/competitions/interests we could include and it would actually be fun to do. If I get the time I'll make a huge list and we can fill in the blanks as best we know and then at tournaments for instance this may bring ppl together to play other things, like UBK and I plan on eventually playing Ping Pong.
