You left Gin Rummy off your list, and that's the discussion Howard and I had that started the whole thing. Also, Gin is one of the most important side skills, as it is played frequently where you see backgammon.

(At our Chicago Chouette, there is often a gin game on the side and we hold up the gin game whenever one of us in in the box or captain).

Years ago I traded gin rummy lessons for backgammon lessons with Dean Meunch because he was commuting to New York to play both at clubs there. I also traded gin lessons for backgammon lessons with Sly when he was in Chicago.

They both got great at gin and I became mediocre at backgammon...so that clearly proves who is the better teacher!
