A tricky decision

Unlike the SM bot, I will give my reasons why I believe 2 down is right.
Avoids 8 shots on the 14 point with a race lead. Of course, 55,33,53 are really bad outcomes the other way, so that greatly reduces the relative danger.
There is no defensive urgency to anchor up yet. The split checkers both cover the outfield where white may wish to deposit a builder, and aim to make a better anchor than the 3 point.
Stripping the midpoint is not as bad as it seems. The 14 point functions in tandem with the midpoint, providing better outfield coverage and better building potential than 4 on the mid would. We can give up the mid if needed and the 11 will provide a similar function.
In the cases where the forward position may not be able to make a point next turn, escaping a back checker may be the best approach. That option is reduced in value if it means breaking an anchor and leaving the blot on the 11 point for another turn.
All this said, I expect the two plays to be close. Bots are very good at doing nasty things to opponents without anchors. In the end, I think two down wins on flexibility.
