Seth - you mistake my analysis. I said that "after hitting, white can cash". This is exactly the nature of a cubeful analysis over the board. Played without the cube, blue will actually win some of those games after getting hit, but with the cube available to white, blue loses them all. If I went wrong, it was by underestimating white's wins. But I absolutely considered the cube. In fact, though not entirely accurate, figuring any position where you get to give a strong double as if it were a win is a good cubeful simplification in figuring settlements (or even cube decisions). It is alot easier to count "one for me" than to have to work out all the equities OTB.
