"As published on our website, “Super 16” players will receive their expenses to return to London on dates that are to be announced. " IMHO this is quite adequate compensation for the inconvenience. Nothing like also winning a free trip.

The studio setting should help to get this thing on the air in The States, which is the priority for the backgammon community world-wide to build a new base of players.
