Before looking at moves, what's going on here, and what's the game plan?
There is a mutual holding game and blue is slightly behind in the race. That means blue will want to maintain contact hoping to either get a big double or to hit a shot. To keep contact, blue needs to ensure that it will be possible to hold his key points longer than white can. Blue's position is stripped and something will have to give immediately. Blue should ideally choose a play that will best enable him to create a strong homeboard for when the shot comes, and to also have enough timing to be able to make moves for a few more turns without being forced to break contact and possibly leave a deadly shot. Right now, however, blue still enjoys the safety of the 20 point anchor and white's blotty homeboard. So I observe that if we did ever need to leave a shot, there is no time like the present.
Choices?
Running off the 20 point anchor is way wrong as it goes completely against the gameplan and it is almost always wrong to break anchor with lots of contact remaining. Giving up the midpoint is wrong for the same reason. Whether or not we get hit, both plays take the pressure off of white who is looking to turn this into a race.
That leaves 11/5 and 8/2 for the 6.
Of the two, it must be seen that continuing to hold the 8 point and breaking the 11 point will allow blue the greatest comfort in play over the next few rolls. That was an objective in the gameplan. But that requires a shot to be left. However, right now, the shot is of little danger due to white's two homeboard blots. So 11/5 seems clear for the 6. Between 11/9 and 6/4, the other part of the gameplan is to have a strong homeboard for when we hit a shot. We want the 4 point and can slot it now without risk. So I prefer that. It also leaves a better 6 to play next roll and makes a 44 by white a bit annoying.
11/5 6/4
