I said nothing at the time of his win, shook David's hand, and he moved on to report. I did not want to do anything to spoil his joy with his first ABT tournament win -- (thanks Ray for the lesson in previous commentaries). I would have been just as excited if I had won.

I want to be as gracious in winning as in defeat. At Michigan this year, on the same day, I lost to Adam in the Consolation final and beat Brent Cohen in the Masters final. Both were exemplary in behavior, as I hope I was. (and this is meant as no reflection of David)

Today, after the match, I was biting my lip and shaking my head when at least three observers made negative comments to David's actions.

Someone must have said something to David as he returned and very graciously apologized for any unintended offense. I said I understood, no apology needed. Water under the bridge.

Agains, congrats to him on a good win.
