"So making the 4 point renders the cube nearly worthless.

How so, worthless?"

Making the 4 point may turn out to be the highest cubeful equity play, but that will not be because of equity derived by efficient use of the cube; it will be in spite of the cube. As I see it, the two most likely scenarios from this play with regard to cube are: 1) white dances - monster market loss, close to too good - very little added value from turning the cube; 2) white enters - barely a double (or maybe not) - very little added value from turning the cube.

I choose the other play because it does generally gain substantial equity from turning the cube when things go well, and it is likely to produce more wins when things do not go well. When trying to decide between two seemingly close plays, and one has substantial cube vig and the other does not, I will go with the one that pays interest. I might feel differently if white were already holding the cube.

I am obviously alone in my opinion here. Someone will learn something here. Maybe many.

I look forward to seeing the rollout.
