It is not a strong double because of my original statement that if you are forced to hit loose and are hit back you will often lose the game. I just checked GNU and it appears to be very close to an optional double regardless of which point they enter a single checker on, with equity ranging from about .535 to .544. In the best case scenario, for doubling, when they entered on the 5 point, a short rollout, too short for accuracy, but long enough to reinforce my statement, GNU had it double, take .5437, no-double .5376.
