When you can't decide between offense or defense when you have doubles to play and many options...

Often it is not a bad idea to make play C: None of the above.

How bad can it be to play 16/14... 8/4, 6/4?

I tell my students... That when they are in doubt... it is better to stay balanced, and ready for anything. You are up in the race, reduce shots, improve your board...

It is like flexing your knees and keeping your hands up on defense in basketball.

It may well turn out that the Offensive or the Defensive move was better UNDER THE CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES.... But if you incorporate a little of each, you won't pick the one that is definitely wrong for those same reasons.

The bots often pick a "middle of the road" play.
