Peoria cube action #2 - OTB

It seems that I have attained a level of expertise beyond my actual capacities due to
A: Some good results
B: Discussion of the topic of psychology in this forum.
Adam acuses me of trying to lure him into a take in the Peoria Cup or whatever warm up event it was that he won on the first night. I got beat by Adam, and then Larry Liebster, (he took a bad 8 cube, but rolled a set on last roll variety).
I remember there was a time against Adam when I was deciding if I was too good or not, and I seem to recall saying so. However, it would not be untoward to say something misdirectional under such circumstances... But though you may lead the horse to water, you can't make him drink!
I honestly have to think about some stuff over the board. Doubling is a tricky business and I have more standards that have to be met than some. For I do not believe that we should be doubling at the same exact moment as the bots for a number of reasons. My reasoning may be flawed but it adds complexity to an already complex subject. Go get some water while you wait, but I would offer YOU some if I did that!
In this case I thought about it for a little while... Decided I was not too good, and doubled. I think Adam just passed instantly. He won easily vs. me and then beat everyone else too. Like the excellent player he has become.
He comments in another post that progressive LC favors the best players, and he doesn't like them. Obviously the intent is to assume the posture of a weaker player, which in itself... with Adam... is a ruse all his own.
One thing I know for sure is... One will always BE a weaker player as long as one thinks like one. That is a hard and fast rule, and there is no doubt about it.
