How did you determine that the 5 ER player would win 55% of matches against the 3 ER player?

I pulled some numbers out of my ass.

Suppose that the 5 ER player plays the checkers a somewhat better than the 3 ER player. The 5 ER player drops a few too many cubes. The 3 ER player doubles too late.

Is there an inconsistency? I don't think there is.

So, why should everyone care so much about ER?
