As I mentioned in my reply to Maik Stiebler, my proposal might actually give more accurate results with less work compared to the current proposal. What it does is to allocate the work efficiently, given that you want the final answer to have a certain accuracy, but don't know ahead of time how many errors the bots will be making and how varied their errors will be.

As for reinventing the wheel, based on the responses I've gotten so far, it doesn't sound like this wheel has been invented yet.
