We need to support ABT directors

I have made similar posts to yours, Alfred. Running tournaments is a tough, thankless job, and my hat's off to these directors for putting up with all the criticism and crap they take during a normal tournament.
At the same time, there are tournament directors who simply, repeatedly make the same mistakes over and over that make the event less enjoyable for all. Players have a right to raise these issues.
There is NO EXCUSE for a calcutta to be delayed and messed up because of last-minute entries. Other events don't have this problem. When I ran an auction for Elayne last year this happened, and along with other delays, the auction went very badly. When Elayne asked me to run her auction again, I said I would but only if she would stop taking late entries and a few other suggestions, and she turned them all down.
There is NO EXCUSE for tournaments to run late. Make a reasonable schedule, post it, and stick to it. If that means penalty points and forfeiting people, that should be done for the benefit and courtesy to all. That also means not allowing people in the main events to enter side events that conflict and hold up the tournament.
Hospitality: there should be minimum standards. Coffee is NOT a god-given right, but it certainly is nice. Nobody objects to paying an extra $20 to the Pittsburgh event to have all kinds of nice snacks. People spend hundreds of dollars to come to tournaments, often more...so charge an extra $5 or $10 if you have to in order to have decent refreshments like coffee and snacks.
If I were running a tournament that allows clocks, I would certainly know the rules and use....part of the requirement for tournament directors is to know all the rules, as ultimately, they are the person who makes the rulings. The director also better read and understand the fast-roll rule, abuse of the Crawford Rule, and all other rules....it should be a "minimum requirement" of running a tournament.
So yes, Alfred, we should be supportive and understanding and patient and helpful, but there are reasonable expectations that players are entitled to, and it is the tournament director's responsibility to see they get them.
